Clarifications:
- slow paced: I think it will take several month (maybe a year) to complete this journey but this could vary a lot depending on many factors.
- asynchronous: there will be no rigid structure or rigid coordination. Anyone participating will contribute with bits of knowledge along the journey and will use other participants' knowledge as leverage to speed up his/her pace or to challenge his/her own understanding of things. Same structure of the old linux kernel development (without Torvalds) .
MISSIONI want to investigate the connections between ENS and the typical DNS infrastructure especially in terms of:
- proof of address via DNS
- DNSSEC
which includes the ability of re-using a standard TLD as ENS domain.DNSSEC will require to work directly on a DNS: I'm thinking of PowerDNS but it could also a patched BIND. I'm open to any other proposal.This will probably lead to a deep investigation about ROOT DNS (which is something I want to do since at least a decade).I want to investigate how ENS could be used in the validation of TOR nodes, sites and resources.I want to investigate how ENS can help in the identification process (persona and pseudonymous) that, for example, could be used in KYC or in ownership-proof processes.
REQUIREMENTS
- basic GIT skills
- basic linux system administrator skills
- basic understanding of the DNS service
- full understanding of the risks connected to the TOR network
- appropriate control of the tools required to access the TOR network safely
- a VPS connected with a public IP for DNS experimentation
